Well, those shoes were an awful choice. That doesn't help.
It says it's silk but it hangs stiffer. I think it could be pretty if it actually looked soft and silky. I like it better in the unbelted image but then it looks really casual.
i actually tried on this dress in both black silk and white cotton as a potential wedding dress and it is gorgeous! i agree that it might be better suited to a slightly taller lady (i'm only 5'4") but i don't think you need to be super skinny for it be flattering.
i think the version at Anaise would be so beautiful for a casual summer wedding.
The back is problematic, agreed, but I wasn't really picturing it for a super-traditional down-the-aisle walk. I think the belt could be tied more neatly to make the back look less messy.
As for the silhouette, I think all the volume at the hip makes the waist look narrow!
I got sort of an artist-smock-meets-kimono vibe from this dress, and those are both things that appeal to me. Ah, well.
I'm with you Erin — love the dress. I don't know why people are always so afraid to add volume to the hip area. True, it does not show off the shape of the body below, but why does clothing always have to make a woman look as thin as possible nowadays. Play with volume and silhouette. It's fun!
I personally love everything Electric Feathers does and I have been envious of this dress for quite some time. It' simple but different. The belt is the best part in my opinion but you could always change it vary the look
meh.
ReplyDeletei feel like you would literally have to be 5'11 and 120 pounds to pull this off.

the belt is lovely, but from the back the whole thing is a mess.
ReplyDeleteditto, the back looks like a hospital gown, the back, the part of you everyone's looking at while you do the actual getting married part
ReplyDeletewhy would you want to wear something that makes your hips look bigger?
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Enormo-hips here not working.
DeleteGuys, looking like a weird medieval penitent on your wedding day is totally a thing now. Jeez.
ReplyDeleteThis is the kind of dress where your mom would say, "You have such a nice figure, why do you want to hide it?"
ReplyDeletehideous, can't think of anyone who would be flattered by this.
ReplyDeletewomp womppp
ReplyDeletealright, here's my voice for the opposition:
