It's your Monday morning installment of DIY Gone Wrong

Perhaps people who endorse sequin-on-sequin shouldn't throw stones......

But I have to give this DIY Holiday Bulb Bouquet a big fat NO.

Srsly.

Just, no.

  1. I actually kind of like it. I don't like the big bow at the bottom and I think it's too small. It'd be better mixed with more vintage millinery pieces/floral.

  2. Can I take this moment to express how tacky I think non-plant-based bouquets are? Like felt flowers and that crap. I guess some people might have flower allergies, but get an organic alternative or something. Everything else looks like shit.

Feel free to throw links at me to prove me wrong.

    1. I'm with you. No felt. No fucking buttons. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe paper if it's done right.

    2. Ugh, button bouquets. And can we be done with brooches already? I've seen paper flowers made from book pages and it just makes me think that in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing that might look okay. But I've yet to come across anything that didn't look like a hot mess to me.

    3. Same here. I can't get on board with faux bouquets AT ALL. I'd rather not have anything, personally. (Although I did do all paper flowers for our tables, so maybe I shouldn't be throwing stones either)

    4. agreed. Although this bulb bouquet is waaay better than those hideous brooch bouquets... But srsly... even a giant bunch of baby's breath is better than EVERY "alternative" bouquet, imo.

  3. Gotta say, I don't hate it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but as someone who doesn't like flowers I appreciate the alternative. I think it is kinda, gulp, pretty. I also think that BHLDN would make this shit up and charge $450 for it, so good on Etsy.

    1. sorry, I'm confused... you don't like flowers? Maybe I'm way off-base, but that kind of seems like saying you think fluffy bunnies are ugly.

    2. 'Cause everyone just think fluffy bunnies are so pretteh. Not everyone has the same taste.

I knew a girl who though puppies were made of awesome but thought kittens were ugly and evil.

      To each their own.

    3. My sister hates bunnies. No joke.

  4. i don't mind it either, and it's infinitely better than both felt flower and button bouquets. not in love with the ribbon, but in general? i'd carry it over paper flowers, even.

  5. Meh, I think it's like that fringed cardigan... someone somewhere is having a whoville winter-wonderland christmas wedding and you just found their dream bouquet.

    1. i don't think you understand that cardigan. like, AT ALL.

    2. how does the bumper sticker go? the fact that no one understands you doesn't make you an artist.

  6. I kind of like it. Maybe not as a bouquet one would carry but I think it's a cute idea that could translate to pretty decorations for a winter wonderland wedding. I love holiday decorations though. I also love that dress!

  7. I don't hate how it looks, but I hate the idea of it. As a centerpiece it could be OK. But I feel like bouquets are about an excuse to carry flowers around - so if you don't want to carry flowers, why are you carrying anything?

    1. Why can't your wedding be an excuse to carry around anything you damn well want?

  8. I would be so worried about it breaking. That dress is bananas tho.

  9. Dunno, I kind of like it. Definitely work for a winter/christmas wedding. Proportions are a bit off for me, strangely small in her hands. Right now it has a "i was daring enough to try it but not bold enough to embrace it" feel to it. I'd go all out if i was making such a statement.

  10. Too small and fussy. I could see it working with one color of large balls (ahem) against velvet ribbons. But generally agree that flowers or greens look better.

  11. Can we all just 86 Christmas bulbs anywhere but on a tree?

  12. I'd like to see what happens when you toss this bouquet. Is the person to collect all the broken glass shards the first one to get married?

  13. Ya. But that dress is f'ing amazing.
