Dear ESB.
I don't want to send you another dress hunt..... so I would like to ask your readers instead!! They seem to know what they're doing.
Let's set the scene.... My other half an I are having a handfasting ceremony in a Welsh forest next summer. I need a dress (going naked may cause some upset with my Grandparents) and I have found a gorgeous dress! (see attached)
My dream dress in fact. It's beautiful and I just want to spew rainbows all over it. Problem is, it's only available in black. Not cool. I have searched high and low and found nothing, so I am asking for the help of your lovely readers.
Much love,
little forest critter <3

It seems the lady doesn't want MY help.
(Perhaps she suspected that I wouldn't looooooove the dress, which I believe is intended for a 16-year-old.)

ReplyDeleteDoes it have to be white? I mean, if this is your dream dress, just wear it in black!
ReplyDeleteUm, if it doesn't come in white, you're not going to find it in white. On the flip side, it looks like an ordinary lace-covered dress that you can get like anywhere teenagers shop.
ReplyDeleteA few semi-similar options...

Depends What Size You Are
"Depends What Size You Are" looks pretty right on.
DeleteThis dress is called 'Hell Bunny Kitty Dress'& is being sold through Violent Delight. Is this a fifty shades of grey clothing site?
ReplyDeleteYikes. Their website is startling. It's very Lolita-goth.
DeleteYikes, they carry Avril Lavigne's clothing line. Bleck.
DeleteThese aren't 100% matches, but dresses with cap sleeves and/or sweetheart necklines.

This silk dress from Anthropologie has a similar structure. I'm actually wearing this one for my wedding.

Deleteyou shouldn't want that dress in any color. :/
ReplyDeleteWhite Lace Dress
ReplyDeleteI must say, you guys are impressing me.
ReplyDeleteWhat about this one? You could take it to a tailor to alter it into a sweetheart:

If it was me, I'd take the photo of the dress to a dressmaker and ask them to design something very similar in white (they won't copy it or rip it off of course - for copyright reasons). The dress is very simple by design and I'm sure you could get something unique made up. You're never going to find anything exactly he same unfortunately :/ You could even buy the black dress and try to make one yourself by taking it apart and making a pattern. Sometimes in the search for something you have to find another way out.
A dressmaker can copy it EXACTLY. Copyright won't apply and don't apply to clothing. Trademarks do and still won't apply for a single garment.
DeleteBut I wouldn't copy that!
Urgh I forgot to make my pretty link to the dress
ReplyDeleteI like this one or this one.
ReplyDeletehow about this one?

This is an awesome dress! Letter writer I hope you buy this one before I do!
Deleteomg Perfect! She can even get the sleeves altered to be more like cap-sleeves!
DeleteYou guys really are rocking the recommendations, even if the dream dress was designed for a 16-year-old!

ReplyDeleteFor your wedding day.
Call me crazy but I just couldn't go there.
I had my dress custom made by Jasmine's Bridal Shop (search online, also on Facebook) for $180 (after shipping). It ended up with some fitting issues, but a lot of people have been really pleased with custom dresses from that site. Worth looking into, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteWiccan Mini Dress in white, by Lover. It's not sweetheart, but it is perfect. http://www.bonadrag.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1208
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with a simple black lace and floral dress for our elopement. The style was perfect for my body. I thought about getting it made in white for a second. Then I realized that was stupid and expensive. I wore the black and it looked perfect, just how it was meant to be.
