I don't mind the bottom so much as I do the top. The top has me voting No Way. The blood red wouldn't be so bad if it weren't in stark contrast to the white.
god i kind of love it ! i would serve roasted open squash, this, and carry a bouquet of orchids. ten years later : "yeah, we had a vaginal theme. i don't know what i was thinking".
It doesn't look bloody to me, and I don't really know why. It might be that I see the orange, and not so much the giant blood red part at the bottom. I love it.
I photographed a bride with the red dye design by Chrissy years ago. I thought she killed it. You have to have the right body for this design. Slim and lengthy totally works. Curvy with DD's not so much. http://www.onelovephoto.com/blog/sanctuary-at-ad/
My cousin also wore a dress by Chrissy in a green color at the bottom. I just realized that you don't see the green much in the photos. I thought it totally worked on her. It was really fun to photograph. I think we have photographed at least 5 weddings with dresses by Chrissy. Each one unique in it's own way! Photos here: http://www.onelovephoto.com/blog/smile/
Oh it's not menstrual--I don't know what you people are thinking. It clearly is meant to evoke the breaking of the virginal hymen on the wedding night. DUH!
I went to a wedding where the bride wore this exact dress, and it looked fantastic. And I didn't think of blood at all. She was marrying a guy from a Chinese family, so the red was partly a nod to the tradition of red as a wedding color I think, but even without that I think it still would have rocked. It would probably look good in other colors too.
Idea - Yay! That color - No fucking way. Hello blood.
ReplyDeleteHa. Snap!
DeleteIf it weren't red and didn't sort of look like a used swab, yes.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with "really fucking beautiful."
ReplyDeleteIdea - yay! Color - wtf?
ReplyDeleteIf the look you're going for is, "I murdered someone on the way to the ceremony," then go for it.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me think of Dexter, which I kind of like (and also, when is that coming back?!), but cannot get behind completely.
ReplyDeleteI usually love dip dye and red is even my favorite color...but I cannot help but think of used tampon. :(
ReplyDeletePositively menstrual
ReplyDeleteI'm with the majority-- dress itself + dye job = so very yay. Red? So very much NAY.
ReplyDeletein fact, the vote is currently 61.5% YAY!
Delete(i'm as shocked as you are.)

ReplyDeleteI didn't even think of blood until I got to the comments, so I voted YAY. But now I can't un-see the tampon...
ReplyDeleteSame here! Can this comment cancel out my yay vote for a tampon?
DeleteIt just looks like she decided to get married on a heavy flow day.
ReplyDeleteone of the girls at work just got this dress. she was able to customize the top and change up the color of dip-dye. I vote YAY!
ReplyDeleteI really like the color in the middle... That peachy orangey color...I almost feel like I don't HAVE to see the red.
ReplyDeleteUntil you call it a tampon. (doesn't tampon staining go the other way around? Ew. I'm gross)
even aside from the red & 'blood' connotations i just don't think that dress is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteyou can do better!

ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be a jerk and say that that dress is almost scarier than the one we're voting on.
DeleteBut they're REAL close.
Also, doesn't EVERY style work with slim and lengthy? Us curvy DD's are always left out.
ugh that dress is HORRIBLE

ReplyDeletetoo funny
DeleteMore like hematocolpos (google that shit)
DeleteI like the dip dye. I like the colour. I HATE the top of the dress.
ReplyDeleteIf it were not shiny fabric it would be better, but I love me a bit of dip dye
