Hi, ESB.
Because you have impeccable taste, I thought I'd ask...
I'm wearing this for our wedding (thanks to Net-a-Porter's unbelievable sale). I'll accessorize with nude or snake print heels, my great grandmother's heavy gold wedding bracelet, and delicate gold earrings and necklace, gifts from my partner. Since nothing about this getup says "bride" I'd like to wear something on my head. But what?
I have longish, dark, wavy hair and plan to wear it half up. I don't think a veil would work, though I do love fingertip veils with wide lace at the end. I generally despise those giant, poufy hat-like things all the rage since the royal wedding, most blusher or birdcage veils, and the boho flower crown look.
Ideas? I appreciate your help.

Skip the headgear.
Take a tip from the all-time award-winning green-Gucci-wearing bride and just ROCK THAT DRESS.
(also: send photos. obvs.)
Agreed.
ReplyDeleteThe enormous white bouquet makes the gucci bride bridal.
The Alexander MaQueen is amazing .
I was going to post this exact same comment. Big white bouquet = bride-y! No headgear!

ReplyDeleteHmm. I'd be inclined to forgo the bracelet and wear some sort of head circlet. Although I agree with Chelsea, a bouquet could do the trick.
ReplyDeleteOr else leave off the necklace, that neckline is so gorgeous and the color so amazing.
ReplyDeleteBARRETTE. FANCY BARRETTE.
ReplyDeleteif mcqueen were around, i think he'd want you in actual headgear. as that's not especially bridal, i'd say yeah, the bouquet should do it. (well done, you dress-finder!)
ReplyDeleteI'm with esb. Add in a big poufy white bouquet and, you know, the fact that you're the BRIDE, and you're as bridal as can be. In keeping with green-goddess bride, though, the hair needs to be knockout. Not just any old half-up - it needs to be a wild, glorious, spectacular half-up, if such a thing exists.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. No headgear, please. Certainly not a veil. Trust me, EVERYTHING about your planned getup will scream BRIDE when you stride through the door, simply because you'll be the best dressed lady in the room. If you want to carry something, perhaps carry a single exotic, long-stemmed flower of some sort (but nothing complicated that will hide the lines of the dress).
ReplyDelete..or maybe the necklace as the head gear, if you are into such things.
ReplyDeleteYou will look knock out, and the best dressed there!
ReplyDeleteI just wonder what your guests will be wearing. If they go for typical wedding attire you will get a lot of knee and tea length dresses, which is fine. But if you have put black tie formal on your invites, than it might be that other women come in floor length stunners like yours. In which case you might want something a bit different to stand out as bridal.
finger tip veil, bouquet, or what about a gorgeous headpiece
Can we just say how beyond awesome it is that you're wearing HOT PINK ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TO YOUR WEDDING?
ReplyDeleteI am beyond jealous. I consider myself a non-traditional bride but I still didn't have the cojones to not wear a pale-ish color. You are my fashion idol.
no headgear for that stunning dress. and if you feel really obligated to do something to your hair, maybe some swiss braids.
ReplyDeleteOOOHHH that dress is gorgeous. I'm with Chelsea - a bouquet will make you bridal
ReplyDeleteHow about a single large flower, like a hibiscus or a clematis, pinned at the side of your head? You don't need it though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with others above, skip the necklace, and also skip a pouffy bridal bouquet. They distract from the awesome dramatic lines of your dress.
Yes, if you feel compelled to do something I vote for giant fresh flower!
Deleteyes, those stupid foofs that look like you're wearing a crooked loofah? i can't wait for them to go away.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.hermioneharbutt.co.uk/ has some cool head gear, very wedding but maybe there is something there!
ReplyDeleteExquisite. Nailed it with the super delicate jewelry. Nothing on the head. I think the ladies are right. Big, white bouquet and you'll be stunning.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you're doing bridesmaids, but I saw a wedding with the bride in a deep teal blue dress, and all her bridesmaids were in white... it looked AMAZING and the sorta reverse colour scheme brought the whole wedding vibe together.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to join everyone else: THAT MCQUEEN ROCKS!
Thanks, everyone! I'll send pics when the deed is done.
