you guys. i just shopped at j crew.

it was a dark moment.

i was desperate.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A GOOD 100% COTTON TANK?

anyhoo....

i just wanted to say: i get why you shop there. they do have some decent basics.

i only started hating on them in the first place because everyone fucking loved them so much. but i feel like now that the catalogue has gone off the rails (c'mon who thinks this is a good outfit? or THIS?) it's cool if i buy a tank top or two.

right??

In other news, aren't you the High Queen of Who Gives a Fuck? Enjoy your tank tops.

  3. Sorry, but it's fine. I love my J. Crew tees and I'm wearing them until they fall off me. The rest of their stuff isn't anything I want and I think it's so funny how expensive some of their shit is. But, they can make a soft pretty tee like nobody else.

  4. Good for you. No, really. GOOD FOR YOU. I'm so fucking sick of poly blends and motherfucking MODAL I could puke.

I almost emailed you the other day after I spiraled into a white hot rage over Anthropology's overpriced polyester BULLSHIT clothes. Yeah, sometimes I look at their website. It's a form of self-flagellation akin to reading design*sponge.

    1. Ugggh I know! I was so excited for Karen Walker for Anthropologie...until I saw that her dresses were made of freaking polyester. And they still cost $150. Lame.

  5. Yep. J Crew kills it on the basics front. It's just the truth.

Going to Italy in a week, and I fully realize I can't compete with the Italians on the fashion front, so I'm packing entirely basics: pretty colored 100% cotton t-shirts and button-downs from J Crew, a couple pairs of great fitting jeans, a couple skirts and good shoes. Keeping it simple and clean.

  6. I will own the shit out of their perfect tees. Their long sleeve shirts I've had for 4+ years and washed the crap out of them and they're still some of the favorite clothing items I own.

  7. their vintage tees really are the perfect combination of soft/thin/and not too short.

  8. The best/worst was their catalog cover 6 months back that had a girl wearing mint pants with a mint TURTLENECK. Because monochromatic turtleneck ensembles look good on most people...? I was still like "I want that."

  9. you like Madewell but hate Jcrew? say what?

  10. I have very long legs, and I have so say that j crew really comes through with the 35'' inseam skinny cords and work -type pants. That shit is not easy to find. They're overpriced but everything goes on mega sale eventually.

  11. I. LOVE. JCREW. Sorry, I do. Their style is exactly my style - like, slumming trust-fund kid hanging out in a European cafe meets 55-year-old retired fine artist living in a cabin in the woods. I'm not being sarcastic.

The catalogues are like fashion runways. It's not necessarily supposed to be a literal representation of what you'd wear on the street.

Anyway - all of my favorite clothes and accessories are from there. And not just the basics.

[Madewell stuff looks awesome but I have yet to buy anything...it just doesn't fit me right - Oh, wait, I bought a pair of boots but returned them b/c I wasn't brave enough to rock them]

    1. I believe it does. I'm wearing one of my new tanks, and I feel.... fine.

  13. I don't generally buy from J Crew because it's kind of expensive for me...but I did just buy my wedding dress for $200. Hate all you want but I bought a wedding dress for $200 and I love it.

  15. off the rails on the men's catalog looks, too. Stuff should actually fit the models, right?

  17. Thank you for mentioning how the catalog has gone off the rails. I just don't even get it.

  18. The catalog is completely ridiculous. I am proud of you for overcoming your J. Crew hatred for one purchase though.
