To an early evening wedding as a guest?
I've got one I'm attending this weekend I'm outfit-less for. Not literally, you know, but figuratively I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR. So I just went impulse shopping and tried on a few perfectly lovely, wedding-guest-y dresses. I'm bored with the whole idea. I found a shirt sort of like this except in a creamy peach silk, and it came home with me instead.
Can I wear this with pants and not look crazy? If so, I saved so much on the shirt I have room in the budget for new pretty shit to make pants look fancier, any ideas?
Thanks,
Pants Please

YES
DO IT
I have worn pants to more than one wedding, and I'm pretty sure I looked killer. (I felt killer.)

Why the hell not? Dressy-ish pants are totally acceptable for weddings, aren't they? I mean, maybe not black tie, but it doesn't sound like this wedding is black tie.
ReplyDeletei wore a black tux to an afternoon wedding/evening reception several years ago. i felt like a superhero.
ReplyDeleteYes! How about pants in a cheerful color, like these peachy silk guys?
ReplyDeleteHa, I missed the part where your shirt is peach. I thought it was the black one. Carry on.
Deleteyou could definitely wear pants, or a pencil skirt?
ReplyDeleteYou can totally wear awesome pants, but the peachy silk top worries me. Won't it just look like you're wearing a flowy whiteish dress in headshots? Flash photography + peach = white, no?
ReplyDeleteI may be over nervous about this.
I think you're over nervous, Kate. Even with flash I don't think anyone will mistake her for a bride impersonator. My feeling is that if it doesn't look weird in person (clearly won't in this case) then it's totally fine. They'll look back at the photos with the memory of the in person outfit anyways.
DeleteAs long as they are tailored and actual pants.
ReplyDeleteJeans, no matter how high end, have no place at most weddings.
I wore jeans to a wedding once.
DeleteOf course I also made all the food, so no one was going to tell me I couldn't wear jeans.
Reminds me of a wedding I photographed once where all the groomsmen (AND groom) showed up hungover, over an hour late for photos, and immediately changed into all manner of camouflage t-shirts, Carhartt work pants, and torn jeans as soon as they got to the reception. Gag.
DeleteYes please! You're invited to my wedding if you promise to wear pants.
ReplyDeleteOf course you can. Even old ladies say so.
ReplyDeletein other news, cookies, i showed you my sis's wedding invite, right?

My best-dressed lady guest wore a purple jumpsuit. She rocked the party extremely hard.
ReplyDeleteYou should spend your extra nickels on Kate Lanphear's shoes, which are so awesome I'm almost making hungry growl noises at them.
