Dear ESB,
A non-wedding related question while staring at the newly grey walls of my cube. Spring cleaning has lead me to trash everything I had hanging in my cube, it is time for a change! I currently have super stale grey walls (which are fabric) with a few personal items here and there, but lacking the personality I am craving. I work in a creative department so color is a must! I am kind of feeling a 1960's vibe with cool color tones, but open to any ideas since this is my second home.
Do you or your readers have great ideas or blog suggestions for my cube makeover?

YOU DECORATE YOUR CUBICLE?
A few girls I work with get patterned cottons for their cube walls and tack them in place with t-pins. Ikea, Five Below, and Pier One are good places for cheapie desk accoutrements.
ReplyDeletemuji for stationary etc. Fancy moon for colourful fabric.
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE you decorate your cubicle.
ReplyDeleteme, i think you need some brass animals.
The crowning jewel of my "cube" decor (it's not really a cube - we have open seating) is my Lance Bass bobblehead.
ReplyDeletepeople who don't decorate their cubes are super weird (or temporary)
ReplyDeleteStark white contact paper for all horizontal surfaces + bold patterned fabric (hello, IKEA!) hung on the cube walls (easy to slip the fabric underneath metal bar at top of cube) + colorful lamps, plants, accents = happy cube.
ReplyDeleteA huge, awesome calendar. Like this or this !
ReplyDeleteI made a curtain for my old studio out of this IKEA fabric, and I got a ton of compliments on it. I think it would looks great in a cube.
ReplyDeleteYou need a Cardboard Safari trophy.

ReplyDeleteI have a few personal photos + a lamp made out of a mini keg. And I spend an inordinate amount of time picking out my calendar each year, since I know I'll be looking at it every. single. day.
ReplyDeleteYou know what is more difficult? Figuring out how to deal with an overly generous coworker who has now gifted me an entire drawer full of beanie babies and expects to see at least some of them out at all times. Really does not give off the right impression to people who wander into my office.
Make up a story that your little "niece" came to visit you at work and fell in love with them and would've had a fit if you hadn't given them all to her. Buh bye beanies
Deletewallpaper the whole thing in Minor Threat posters. EVERYONE WILL LOVE YOU ! nothing says 'approachable colleague' like D.C. hardcore.

ReplyDeleteHow did you get the job?
Because I rock! I wanted something fresh after I cleaned the clutter. I also wanted to get get some awesome suggestions, which totally worked. Thanks Friends
Deletei've never had a cubicle, and now i feel like i might be missing out.
ReplyDeleteyou're not
DeleteUmm, yep, I decorate the ol' cube. Big colorful calendar (Paper Source has awesome ones - also have great paper you could use to cover some wall space), photos, magazine ads, magnets. Anything that will momentarily take you away from the sad grayness/beigeness and feeling like an office drone.
ReplyDeleteLined two walls in chartreuse wrapping paper from Paper Source and topped it with the Owl paper as a border. Haven't pinned anything on it so I won't make holes, but love the fact that it doesn't look drab and grey anymore. Need to finish the 2 1/2 remaining walls soon. Also did a postcard collage awhile back but decided it was too busy.
