Dear ESB: Which shoes should I buy??

There are three amazing pairs of shoes here...

(TomcatNaked & Daisy, all by Cydwoq)

... All are available in the silver finish that the Tomcat is pictured in. None are available for try-ons in my small town.

Which pair should I buy for the wedding?

I want them to be dress-up enough to work with my [vintage ivory silk] wedding dress, and hip enough to wear again later.

*****

Can I have a photo of the dress?

I'll remove the sleeves and most of the neck lace, but this gives you the general idea.

(Yes, the photo was taken in an RV -- otherwise known as my secret sewing lair)

  3. This dress needs 5 inch Zanottis. With feathers and crystals. Maybe even snakeskin.

  4. Yeesh. I'm having a tought time picturing that dress "after." But I'm no seamstress, so...?

  5. Well, what shoes then? I should mention that the wedding is the desert. Like, on sand. So, desert chic. Heels are totally out.

    1. Shoeless? I did this. It was wonderful, though I did stub my toe on some concrete and ended up bloodied ... but that's me. Save on the shoes and splurge on a pedi.

    2. Desert chic. Fucking own that. Throw down the credit card on the second pair and don't give it a second thought.

    3. hahahahaha desert chic omg.

I don't understand why ballet flats aren't the obvious, obvious, obvious choice. Even if these sandals weren't all horrendous, imagine having sand in your toes the whole time? eww.

    6. yeah and ballet flats would KEEP the sand in your shoes/on your feet the whole time, that's worse.

  6. I'm gonna go ahead and say this.... I bought sandals I did not love for my wedding. My wedding was amazing. I didn't notice my shoes. My feet didn't hurt or bleed, I didn't fall on my face. No-one else cared about my shoes. They were not perfect for the dress, but I still looked and felt beautiful and chic. Just saying. You are not marrying the shoes, this will not be the last pair of shoes you will ever wear. Don't lose your mind over it. But... whatever you do decide on, I would recommend anything you can try on first. And break them in before the day of!

  7. I like the last ones, they're the most delicate of the lot as they don't have a big clunky bit over the heel. That said, they don't go with the dress. At all. But who the fuck cares? If you do then I'd keep looking. If you don't and you really like those shoes and you're going to wear and wear them after the wedding then buy them.

  8. Given the sand I agree with Cara - and I'd still be tempted to super glue some feathers. Or pointy studs.

  9. None of the shoes really match the dress, which I can't really imagine as desert chic even with alterations. I like any of the shoes better than the dress, though.

  10. I completely see what you're going for, when I imagine the dress without the sleeves and the high neck. You'll look like you're wearing a beautiful turn-of-the-century, Western-style petticoat. And YES, sandals will work with that. (Forget the nay-sayers.) I actually like the second pair above, but I was looking around the Ped site and found these, too, that you might want to consider:

An antique gold ballet-ish flat (called Dust, appropriately enough for the desert)

A coppery/bronze-y slide sandal, which might look nice with the lace that you leave at the neck.

  11. yeah, I second the vote for the last ones... if this is the direction you're going. Also, I can definitely imagine that dress as desert-chic!

  12. Agreed, I can definitely see the desert chicness of the dress. I like the second ones as they are the most delicate looking, but still have the roughness of the leather going for them.

No ballet flats, sand in the toes for days!!

  13. One more thing—I was back at the Ped site today (looking for silver shoes for myself), and I found these that I think might be perfect for you:

Double ankle-strap sandal in silver that's definitely desert chic!

I really think these could be the ones!
