i think the series is beautiful and doesn't need to be taken so literally. bonnie mentions on her blog that it's not about the food aspect of breakfast but a look into those quiet moments and inner thoughts that happen during that time of day.
Watch ESB back down and slink back to her little hole on the internet. She picked on one of her bread and butter. Don't come to the Cream event. Mean girls aren't welcome to play.
"Breakfast, my new monthly photographic series, is not about food, but an exploration of people with their thoughts and emotions during that first meal of the day."
That's taken from Bonnie Tsang's statement on her blog about the "Breakfast With" series.
Not understanding concepts that are not 100% literal (e.g. a photograph of an egg on a plate next to a bowl of oatmeal and a glass of orange juice, which I assume is that you think these photos should be of) is really no excuse to be nasty. The tone of this post and the ire of some of the comments are pretty sad.
Your comments are completely uncalled for. You are what I like to call an Internet bully...you're hateful words are only a sign of your apparent insecurities. I hope that you can learn to understand that we all have unique visions and thoughts...we all offer something different creatively and that's a great thing! It's not to be mocked, but appreciated.
Oh goodness, you guys, I follow Bri's blog and LOVE her quirky colorful style; I think ESB was just being playfully snarky. That's just The ESB Way ™. I visit Bri's blog for fun and ESB's blog for attitude. What brings you here? Can I give you a quick tour of the house? Good. Follow me: here's the room where we poke fun of people, places and things that are covered in glitter (we drop F bombs in there, so watch your step!); here's the room where we help brides find their wedding shoes; here's the room where we talk about boobs 'n lubes; here’s a room filled with air plants; there are more rooms upstairs, and then there's Rob's man cave furnished with Etsy finds and vintage chair rentals....any questions so far? OK, then. This is the house ESB built. Make yourself cozy! We're serving coffee for breakfast, if you'd like a cup.
Look, I have opinions too, I'll admit, but you cannot think it is acceptable to steal a photographers work, post it on your site and then defame them. Get some class.
ohh we've left snarksville for bitchtown! love it!! :D I hear ya esb... if you're doing a series on people eating their breakfast it makes storytelling/photographic sense to have one nicely styled shot of said breakfast and not just the empty dishes...
Anon 7:46 it's stealing if the work isn't attributed/credited or if it's being passed off as your own work when it clearly isn't... and obv none of that is going on here.
Hate to burst your bubble, but taking any photograph off the internet and reposting it without DIRECT WRITTEN PERMISSION from the photographer, is, in fact, stealing. Most photographers don't sue people who steal their images for a variety of reasons, but then again, most people who steal images aren't being snarky about the images {and, as has been pointed out, apparently failing to read the photographer's explanation of the point of the art!}.
Better watch it, ESB. Apparently the whole Internet is bffs with Blondie. God forbid you call these photos beautiful and mock the lack of food. Being realistic is sooooo five years ago. Oh, and add some fucking glitter, pink, and twirly lines to your blog, while you're at it. Then maybe the mean girls will leave you alone.
agreed. lovely shots, truly. but from a girl who smears stinky cheese on toast for breaky, i was wondering the same.
ReplyDeleteCold coffee (it looks cold, dammit) and empty bowl is definitely a Very simple breakfast.
ReplyDeletehahaha... maybe she's imagining breakfast?
ReplyDeleteI love that you're annoyed by this because I was too.
ReplyDeleteI looked at this earlier today and it didn't even register. I was too distracted by her sweater. Which I want.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to get better lately but coffee has been my only breakfast for a lot of my adult life.
ReplyDeleteBut to be fair, in the photos on Bonnie's site it looks like Bri is eating a bowl of cereal (or something).
so "simple" it's not there!
ReplyDeleteThis is just too funny...no bowl has every been more empty, or more clean.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if you look at the whole series on the photographers site (which she pretty clearly links to) there are photos of her eating cereal....
ReplyDeleteNot sure what the issue is?
I liked this series, but I see what yer saying'... I'd like to see a Toasters Strudel up in there. Ha.
ReplyDeletep.s. I eat coffee for breakfast, too! Blogger-celebrities are *just like us*!

ReplyDeleteanon is back!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joy, beautiful series. it wasn't intended to be photos of food.

ReplyDeleteAh, ha ha. I love the image of Rob hanging out in smoking jackets, drinking bourbon and surfing for wedding dresses on ShopBop.

Coffee anyone?
Pretty sure that ESB's comments weren't technically defamatory either...well not in the UK anyway.

ReplyDeletethis is sooooo hi-larious, as per usual. everyone's allowed their opinions, people! it's a free country, remember?

ReplyDeleteYou guys. ESB's snark is how she shows LOVE.
ReplyDeleteNicole made me laugh. Hard. How do people still get sooooo offended by ESB?
