A few people (okay, Tonia) said "less wedding talk, more vacation updates!!!!" so I thought I'd give you a wee update in bullet-point form.
↣ The Whales, Amazing. The word "amazing" doesn't even begin to describe. I petted a baby whale, people. I rubbed it under the chin.
↣ La Paz, Cute. Dusty. And full of dogs. Between 1 and 4am they all go into a barking FRENZY. Never again will I complain about all the barking dogs in Echo Park.
↣ The Food, Delicioso. Tacos, Sopes, Huaraches, Vampiros. Muy Muy Delicioso.
↣ My Husband, Working Too Much. Which, I knew he would be. A client brought us down here, so what do I have to complain about?
↣ Me, Aimless. Spending too much time on my iphone in btwn chapters of The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test/taking myself for walks.
↣ Tomorrow, WHALE SHARKS. No idea what they are, but I'm pretty sure I need to write a comedy about them.
(Photo of Hembra by H-town. Hembra lives in the crazy, dusty, terrific house where we're staying. Or in the courtyard, to be precise.)
whale sharks! they're amazing. one was spotted off my island some time last year & we went out on the boat & jumped in with him (her?). swim with one if you can, when else will you get the chance? they're technically a shark, but a filter feeder so its totally harmless.
ReplyDeleteSHUT THE FRONT DOOR. You did WHAT with a baby whale? Is there footage involved?
ReplyDeleteOH MY GAH !!!!!! AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that photo!
ReplyDeleteOh and watching whale sharks feed is incredible...enjoy!
Whale Sharks are incredibly beautiful! Like the Jaguar Shark from Life Aquatic
ReplyDeleteAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Do you even know how gray and sucky it is here right now? I so needed this post. What a getaway! The whole thing sounds fantastic- even the walks alone. That video of the baby whale....WOW. Who was coo-ing "ohhh, come here!" like it was a dog?? Hahaha, that made me smile. I might make tacos tonight and just pretend it isn't 2 degrees outside.
ReplyDeleteShe really was just like a puppy. Even the way she blew water in your face. It makes me smile all over just thinking about it.
DeleteI don't even have words. That is so awesome. I might have to add "pet a baby whale" to my list of things to do in life now.
ReplyDeleteKristy, you really really should.
DeleteWE HAZ BULLETTZ! Looks like you're having an amazing time! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is joy, pure joy. thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletewhat no margarita drinking going on? love the vaca updates, sun, tacos, whales and shark whales, what more could ya want? so jealous of the sun part, it's freezing cold in Italy right now.
ReplyDeleteMargaritas and PALOMAS (tequila + grapefruit). The sun is nice, though it's pretty breezy here in Feb. Not quite cutoffs weather, though I keep trying.
Deleteum, yummy. never tasted one but sounds deeelish. have fun
Deleteblow holes in the face!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes. Sounds holyfuckballz amazing. Also, good vacation read.
ReplyDeleteWhat a face! That dog is so cute.
ReplyDeleteWhale sharks get pretty damn big. Some Pakistani fisherman found one "unconscious" last week. Not sure how that worked, but the pictures are incredible.
I had no idea that those were called vampiros! D's family makes them and they are amazing.
ReplyDeleteLive it up, lady.
we'll make a vegetarian of you yet, cookies. (i hope you're petting the dogs also.)
ReplyDeletelove all the ladies in the boat squealing nonstop
ReplyDelete(that what I would do, too)
JEALOUS.
I am from victoria BC where you will be going soon. We have killer whales and people go on outings to see them. You will not be able to pet any as we have rules to how close you can get to them. Oh and don't try to pet those seals either at the marina (those in your picture) they will bite off your fingers.
