retail therapy

I went to the mall to buy face cream, and I came home with a pair of high-waisted flares (on sale) and a tangerine sweater (not on sale).

Whoops.

Not 100% sold on the jeans -- I may have to wear em around the house for a day before I commit. But they did rate an ass-grab from H, so yay!

Now all I need is the pyuuurfect pair of brown wedges.

AND THAT'S ALL I NEED.

And some tank tops. And a black bathing suit? And new Sauconys. Oh, and face cream.

And that's all I need.

  3. i figured out where i get it from this weekend when my dad was in town. he kept teasing Henry whenever his diaper came off for grabbing his "special purpose".

fuck my list of all i needs is never ending. i am trying to figure out how to do something about it.

  4. Or these! Celia posted them as part of her boob series; they just arrived and look awesome. The lady taking my order asked where I'd heard about them as they'd just had an influx of purchases from the states; maybe the ESB lube effect all over again?

    1. 17 beats, too tall?! Never. Of course I don't know you but all I'm saying is that those jeans would most likely look rockin' on you. Take it from someone who would *love* to rock some high-waisted flares but just can't.

    2. take it from a very short girl, flared jeans were made for taller girls.

  7. God, I love retail therapy. Especially with sale items. I have one pair of flares. They are my green jeans. I don't wear them very often, but my husband is always astonished at how LONG my ass looks in them, ha. He's not a fan of the elongated-ass look. But the jeans continue to live in my closet, and he continues to live in our house, so it's fine. xo.

  8. I have the same jeans and was hesitant at first (mainly just b/c most of my other pairs are skinny-ish), but now I love them. Wear them more than any others. Give them a few days, and you'll come around.

    1. Here's my concern: one pair was too tight, and one pair was just a little too loose. So I bought the too tight pair because THEY ALWAYS STRETCH OUT, RIGHT? But... They still feel too tight.

      ACKK.

    3. Late reply here, but yes. Mine stretched too. But be careful b/c they also shrunk up a bit in length. I always find that so frustrating, they stretch out, so I want to dry them, but then am scared to b/c they might get shorter. Gahhh, denim.

    1. I'm a big fan of the Juice Beauty Green Apple SPF 15 for day. Still on the hunt for the perfect light-but-not-too-light night cream, but I just ran through 4 samples of this vitamin e cream by Malin + Goetz, and it's pretty great.

  10. I wish I was tall enough for flares. By the time I hem 'em they are stove-pipe. Sigh.

  11. @ESB - Thanks for the unexpected link to "The Jerk." I forgot how much I love that movie.

I've been wanting to buy high-waisted, flared pants, but what kind of shoes do you wear with them? If I wear my clogs, will I look too 70's?

    1. CLOG IT UP.

i'm gonna wear em with my clog wedges, and then also my new brown open-toe wedges i haven't found yet.

    2. I just ran into the girl who used to do my hair who is probably the coolest dresser in all of the eastside of Los Angeles, and she was wearing dark flares and chestnut brown high-heel clogs. So, do it.

  12. Hi ESB! I have been severely tempted by these jeans for months. I was a little concerned that there was something weird about them, since they have been on sale for so long...did you notice any weirdness? We have a store here in Seattle so I guess I could go check them out myself. (Also, I suppose I should wait for my current Madewell order to arrive before I buy anything else...)

  13. Navin Johnson is my hero. I have a striped vinyl thermos to prove it.

My list is never ending too. I feel like I shouldn't have to struggle to get my basics -- black flats, a nude tshirt bra, straight leg mid-rise jeans, -- why are they so hard for a budget-minded girl to find?
