Dear ESB: The BOOBSCAST

In which guest expert Celia addresses your pressing questions about boob wrinkles, bra washing, and how to stage a breast-ervention. And I do a lot of giggling.

Also, C and I reveal more than you ever wanted to know about our own personal bra-wearing habits.

thank you all for your sweet compliments. i don't think anyone likes the sound of their own voice, so it's nice to hear that it's pretty decent. ;)

  6. nice little download button up there @esb. Thank you for answering my question! And just in time for wash day! but I didn't leave my email on the podcast hotline...does that disqualify me from boob cream? also, was NOT wearing a bra while starting wash day...then listened to the podcast...now wearing a bra. @Celia, you change lives.

  8. I accidentally commented from my non-blogging Google account.

Ok, so. I LOVE THE BOOBS WEEK POSTS. I was so busy this week that I didn't have time to comment, but be prepared for a barrage of comments. Also? I wore a bra all week.

Also, fucking CELIA has THE BEST VOICE.

  9. DAMMIT. I thought I was logged in. That comment from Lauren? It's Naurnie. Ok, I'm done.

  10. i could listen to celia say "bewbs" all day

    killer.

  11. I admit it: I went publicly braless last night in a blazer and tank top, but I'm a B-cup and 22, so I guess that makes it okay (for now). Must try the boob-freeze treatment because I always want to rip my bra off. (This makes me sound like a hussy.)

Also, I agree with the Celia-sexy-voice comments.

  12. Boobs week was rad! It was nice hearing your voices. Yay boobs.

  13. Re: boobs and exercise - my boobs (DD cup) definitely got, not perkier, but sort of more prominent when I was doing lots of upper-body strength based exercise.

Also, I think that saggy/non-saggy boobs have more to do with genetics than vigilant bra wearing. I had B cup boobs through my late teens/early twenties and rarely wore a bra. They are still really perky even though I'm now much bigger (and I have to wear bras or I'd knock myself out or something), which I attribute to good boob-genetics rather than bra-wearing.

  14. @Pip What made them bigger?? I'd read your blog, but there are 5 of them and my attention span is not that big.

  15. p.s loved boobsweek and loved the podcast!

  16. @pip yeah, i was a D cup by the 8th grade, and the size i am now by the time i was a sophomore in high school. i'm sure genetics has LOTS to do with it, but the longer you've been lugging around massive tits *does* play a part. talk to me in 10 years.

  17. @Celia (or anyone else who avoids activities that make the big'uns bounce): If you ever DO find yourself with the desire to exercise, an underwire sports bra will make ALL the difference as far as bouncing or the lack thereof. I lazily went to the gym one day this week without changing out of my regular bra and I was reminded how much that SUCKS. With the sports bra, I don't even notice the girls and just get on with what I'm doing (well, except for certain yoga poses, but I'm pretty sure that's not gunna change).

  18. Haha. Yeah I have a tinsy blog problem at the moment, am currently consolidating.

A new diet of, um, food instead of beer and cigarettes + genetics, I guess?
All the ladies in my family are slow boob growers, though. Which is sort of weird now I think about it.

  19. @Celia, true, weight + gravity is always gonna be a killer. I'm just continually surprised that mine haven't gone south. I also haven't had kids yet sooo...the shoe might be firmly on the other foot in a few years time.

  20. +1 @Anon 6:04
A good sports bra will change your life.
    Holy crap.

  21. Okay, so apparently I only comment to talk about lube and how gross I am (forthcoming): but I honestly can't remember the last time I washed my bras...and now I feel horrible. They aren't grimy or discolored or anything, and to be honest the problem is that I didn't have a sink that would hold water until a few weeks ago. But: washing them tomorrow as instructed. Please don't shun me if you meet me. Also, don't have big boobs (32C) and don't sweat much in my non sports bras, so hopefully that helps me be less disgusting. Please tell me I'm not the only one who isn't a regular bra-washer?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @MWK all i will say is i DEFINITELY do not wash mine once a week.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Confession: mine go in the washing machine. I loathe hand-washing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. And here I thought they were washed as regularly as everything else. What an education this has been.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Rob women are actually just as gross as dudes. grosser, probably.

    ReplyDelete
  26. i want to listen to all of this in a sitting but i keep having diarrhea! this is THE WORST!

    ReplyDelete
  27. you gals are adorable.

c, you should totally go into radio.

  28. Celia, you are right on about coconut oil being great for our skin. In fact, it actually firms skin and improved elasticity. Plus for those of us with sensitive skin, it is very gentle and non-irritating. I even use it on my face and it never makes me break out, which is incredible because it seems like everything makes me break out. Yay for coconut oil!

And there *is* something that can help keep boobs perky: push-ups! No lie, I have noticed a very nice lift-effect happening since doing Bodyrock every other day. But get yourselves a great sports bra first...it's so uncomfortable to be bouncing everywhere during exercise.

Boobsweek was really great! I'm inspired to pay better attention to mine and treat them with the care they deserve. :)

  29. @woolandmisc are you trying to get yourself BANNED?

    ReplyDelete
  30. @esb: Oh thank god. And yes, Rob, women be gross.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You guys are amazing. Celia's voice is smooooooooooove, I love it. And I'm off to wash my clearly filthy bras...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Coconut oil is a great moisturiser, I use it on my face, and everywhere else.
Petroleum based moisturisers don't actually do any moisturising, they just sit on the skin feeling silky, but not adding anything to the skin cells.

Coconut oil is also good compared to many plant oils because it stays stable at high temparatures, so it won't degenerate when exposed to sun/air.

Ok oils are one of my favourite subjects, forgive me!

Thanks for boobsweek! Can we keep having more big boobed fashion plz?

  33. lovely way to spend the morning doing boring shit in the office! Thanks ladies for a great podcast!

  34. I looove how Celia pronounces bewbs

  35. #BOOBSWEEK has been awesome. I need to invest in more bras (waaay too lazy to wash them by hand every week) and some coconut oil, apparently.

    Thanks esb & Celia!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks for the brutal boob honesty! Totally charming.

  37. I am listening to this on my commute next week. Here's hoping I don't terrify my fellow bus-travellers with giggling. :D
