I mean, I did spent my entire college career doing work-study in the costume shop.
Think I'll skip the rope belt though,
Steven. I'm not really feeling the whole nautical thing.
This post inspires me to make a nightgown too. Sewing is such a good excuse to watch bad tv.
YOU can SEW?
ReplyDeletewhen i found out she owned a sewing machine and made ALL of her curtains i nearly died.
ReplyDeleteesb - can you make me one too? PPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEE?
You're making me want to actually pull out and use my sewing machine. I got it for Christmas and still haven't taken it out of the box. Sad, I know.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions for projects for a beginner? (The last time I made anything was 10-12 years ago.)
love you.
ReplyDeleteI agree, sewing and bad* tv go hand in hand.
I watched all of GG season one while making Parker's burger costume. I got no side eyes from the bf then.
* in the yummiest way possible
@Kristy curtains are easy and super satisfying to make. just be sure you WASH THE FABRIC (especially if it is $1/yd cotton) before you do the sewing. I forgot that important lesson and my curtains shrank almost three inches when I washed them three years later.
ReplyDeletesewing puts me in a shit mood. i can't explain why, it just does. i did make myself a pair of pajamas a few years ago, though. i ended up giving them to a friend because they just reminded me of what a shit mood i was in while making them.
ReplyDeletebut i'm pretty sure i could hang with some curtains...
I bet built by wendy has a pattern that would be similar to this dress in her new book of dresses.
ReplyDelete@Ashley I'm gonna look!
ReplyDeleteThe key to enjoyable sewing is low pressure + good TV.
ReplyDeleteNightgowns and me are a total no-go. Am I the only one who ends up tangled up and unable to move?
@Rachel nightgowns are really more for *lounging.* And it will soon be too hot for pajamas...
