If the groom insists on wearing Converse, point him toward the Dress Code 1/2 Collection by Converse Japan.

  1. OOH!!! CRUTE!! I came across a pair of black SEQUINED ones a while back. Kicking myself now for not getting them. I personally love it when grooms/men wear converse ♥

  2. NO MATCHING CONVERSE. not on groomsmen. not on anybody.

  3. grooms aside, i think *i'd* wear them (not to a wedding, but as a general proposition). i'm pretty hot for the varvatos for converse, as well.

  4. i'm all about dudes wearing sweet kicks for weddings.

i, personally, judge men who wear gooberish fancy shiny old fart stick up the ass shoes. but i digress.

converse can make anyone have clown-foot, not attractive. vintage nikes on the other hand? thats more like it.

  5. you know what? i'm going to say it. i like it when men wear big-boy grown up shoes. bring on the wingtips! the ox blood! the cap toes! the calf! the kid! the chelsea boots! the gorgeous leather shoes that mold to their feet the longer they're worn, that slip and slide across the dance floor. THAT'S romance.

but i guess if he MUST be a man-child on his big day, then he should go with these. good eye, ESB.

  8. p.s. H wore vans at our wedding, but I won't lie, lately I've been looking longingly at men's wingtips.

  9. Well practical schmactical made me crack up. My groom is wearing his fancy vans. Are we opposed to this, too??

  10. I think we were writing those previous posts at the saaaaame time.

  11. these remind me of saddle shoes... which remind me of catholic school... and i'm not sure how i feel about that.
i do sometimes wish i still wore uniform though, so...

and, agreed, 17 beats. men in man clothes wearing man shoes gives me a major case of the butterflies. HOT.

  12. my palms started sweating when i saw that H-town wore vans. i didn't mean to sound confrontational-- it's a bad habit. my personal person wears vans a whole helluva lot, and it's crushing because he has a shoe collection that rivals mine.

a guest post is enticing. only if it could be about planning the perfect wedding with your mom, and then calling it off for no reason and then inexplicably, your former husband-to-be (with whom you still happily live) nearly dies on the day that you were supposed to get married. freaky shit, dude. i'm telling you: it was a sign.

time to tuck in to a 5th avenue and a twenty year old tawny.

  13. mmm vans are so good. actually better than said vintage nikes, but my guy scoffs at anything that a board-sport aficionado may wear and says "sweet dude brah". ew get over yourself steve

  14. what about improv troupes? can they wear matching converse?

  15. i feel like sneakers are on the same level as jacketless-vest-and-tie-combos. like, can we put out a little effort or something?

but i may just be bitter because my shoes were so godawful painful. and if MY feet hafta hurt, dammit...

  16. Liz, it is your own fault your shoes hurt.

  17. i can't yes-and that with a clear conscience, wool and misc.

  18. I'm not going to lie, grown up shoes make me a little uncomfortable. Most likely it is because he has very wide feet, and have you seen the wide-feet dress shoe options? Let me tell you, they are not a good look. I much prefer a good pair of sneaks.

Of course, if you're trying to look unique, and you wind up wearing the same type of sneakers as everyone else...I am sensing a problem.

  20. I'm delurking for this one - my MAID OF HONOR suggested that all the BRIDESMAIDS wear matching converse with their knee-length dresses. I almost threw up all over her. We're just not converse people (she is), especially not converse-people enough to make it a wacky theme of our wedding

  21. i like groomsmen in cool kicks, but my bf is on the fence about it...he has this thing about people who "try too hard" and thinks groomsmen wearing matching sneakers falls into that category. i still like it though....maybe because i'm always at super formal weddings, so the sneakers tone it down a little and seem refreshingly fun to me.
